B i o g r a p h y

Mr. Marshall is a professional cellist and educator based in Tucson, Arizona. He received his masters of music from the University of Arizona’s Fred Fox School of Music in cello performance, and his bachelor’s of music performance from Kennesaw State University. 

 

Robert currently serves as the principal cellist in the Tucson Repertory Orchestra and Civic Orchestra of Tucson. He is the assistant principal cellist of the Sierra Vista Symphony Orchestra and appears regularly with the Tucson Symphony and Tucson Pops Orchestras. Mr. Marshall also performs with the Arizona Repertory Theater, Arizona Theatre Company, and the Rogue Theatre. 

 

In addition to performing, Robert runs studio of students from ages 6 to 70 and coaches cellists in local middle and high schools.

 

Highlights of Mr. Marshall’s music career include performing chamber music at the Talis Festival and Academy in Saas-Fee, Switzerland with members of the Royal Concertgebauw and Royal Stockholm Philharmonic; giving the inaugural orchestral performance at The People’s Theatre in Xi’an, China; and working with the St. Lawrence, Chiara, and Escher String Quartets in their summer festival programs.

 

Past teachers include Dr. Theodore Buchholz, Charae Krueger, Dr. Robert Jesselson, and Mary Kenney. He has performed in masterclasses for Sharon Robinson, Joshua Roman, Jussi Makkonen, Harvey Wolf, Jesus Castrobalbi, Mike Mermagen, David Ying, Jeffery Solow, and Seun Thornsteinsdottir.
